Learning Gaelic

by mygaelic.com

Gaelic is a gateway to another world. Learning is fun, and you’re not going to just learn a language, but become part of a varied and vibrant culture which, more than ever before, is a global culture. It doesn’t matter anymore whether you live in Kilmarnock or Kentucky, new technology and local societies give you a surprising number of chances to learn Gaelic. Night classes, Gaelic interest groups, formal courses, distance learning and e-learning can all help you to learn Gaelic. A bheil ùidh agad ann, tha? (Are you interested, yes?) Then take the first step to Gaelic and find out more.

And if you are fluent in Gaelic already, or want your children to learn through Gaelic, again there are plenty of ways to learn with the language. Opportunities abound for children: in playgroups, primary schools and secondary schools. Then there are the numerous university and college courses which include Gaelic studies, or in the case of some courses up to degree and postgraduate level you can study in Gaelic. There has never been a better chance to learn Gaelic, or learn in Gaelic. Take a step that you will not regret.

Education and learning are the roots of language and culture, and with Gaelic education thriving, the hope is that the language and culture of the Gaels will flourish as a result. Gaelic education can be accessed in a number of local authority areas in Scotland, and at a range of levels, and even through distance learning or video conferencing in some instances. Through ingenuity and education, Gaelic will thrive.
